The Bald Hills Fire Fighters Association is the social arm of our department. It's comprised of our volunteers, their families and fire department supporters. We come together monthly to share a meal, celebrate member achievements and plan community service and events. The Association is a Washington State Charities Program number 33348. We've applied for federal non-profit 501c3 status, which will allow us to receive tax-deductible donations in the future.
The Association represents the Fire Department in community activities such as the Prairie Days and Christmas in the Park parades and our annual Santa run through Clearwood and Cougar Mountain. Association members participate in fundraisers such as dunk tank rental, our Hunters Breakfast, Firedoggies and yard sales. Proceeds of our fundraisers support a variety of social welfare activities. Here are some projects to which our Association has contributed in the past few years:
1. Annual donations to Yelm Community Services and Yelm Cooperative Gift of Gobble for holiday dinners.
2. A work party to help maintain the home of a member in need of support while he worked extra hours to pay medical bills for his seriously ill wife.
3. A donation to 'Lungs for Jake', to help a young man in the Fire Services family with cystic fibrosis in need of bilateral lung transplants.
4. A donation to one of our members with young children, to help defray funeral expenses for the untimely death of his young wife.
We welcome community members to join us at Association Night on the first Tuesday of each month. Our meal is at 6:30 p.m., followed by our meeting. This is a fine opportunity to meet your Fire Department volunteers, to learn more about us and to get your questions about us and fire services answered. If you've been looking for a way to become more involved with your Bald Hills community, this is your opportunity!
